Y’all. Ursa Dax has done it again. This author has consistently released banger after banger, and has yet to disappoint me with her stories. Rather than re-read all of the Cowboy Colony books to review them in order like I had planned, I was too excited when I saw this in the Kindle Unlimited library and I didn’t want to wait to read it. I started it and immediately fell into Lualhati and Hallum’s romance.
Lualhati is such a fun and engaging character. She’s personable and relatable in the best ways, and I loved that she’s in her mid-thirties with a rounded, curvier body. She talks about how she’s a hottie with a great ass, and she honestly had me cracking up throughout the book. I love, love, love a passionate, joyful female lead with a grumpy and strict male lead. I eat that shit up every time. There was some angst but it didn’t detract from her sunshiny personality.
Hallum is the epitome of a warden and ex-commander of the Zabrien army. The way he effortlessly handles everything thrown at him while taking impeccable care of our good Doctor Ortiz is hot. He takes his responsibilities very serious while trying to maintain professional distance with a very eager and determined Lualhati. I don’t want to get too deep into the story because, I promise, it’s worth reading. I have been a huge fan of this series since day one, and I don’t even care that I’m a bit biased because of how much I loved Ursa’s Sea Sand Warriors series. Seriously, if you haven’t read those yet, do yourself a favor.
Why aren’t you reading alien smut yet, folks??? It’s 2026. The government already admitted the existence of extra-terrestrial friends. I just hope they’re 7 foot tall colorful, muscular men with tails, and cute mouse ears.
