Damn, this was a good one.

Larissa Ione kills it again, with a tale of assassination, romance, tragedy, laughter, and love. I read through this book in one sitting, unable to put it down until I finished it. The characters were great. I really adored Tavin and his goofy self. He had some moments where he seems a little obnoxious, but that’s just him. His past story with Gristlen was so bittersweet and tragic, and I love that she got to come back to seek her revenge as Deja. Killer name, too.

After Bond of Destiny, where the Horsemen eradicated the Neethul slave trade and assassin dens, it was really cool to see the consequences of that. It was the reason Tavin was able to decide he wanted more from life than being a contracted killer, and what led him back to Gristlen, though he didn’t know it at the time. There was plenty of spice and yearning, which I always eat the hell up. I had plenty of laughs at Deja’s awkwardness, and her doing her best to not give away who she is.

I really enjoyed this one and highly recommend it.

11/10 It’s a damn good book.
